Unless you plan on landing on a beach or poking into a shallow creek, tide is likely not very important to you.
Hi, I’m Dan! I built this site because I paddle on the Hudson with my family (that’s my 10-year-old son I’m towing through a rainstorm on our way from Cold Spring to Beacon). The site is free. If you find it helpful and want to support it, you can buy me a coffee.

Important note
Tides and currents are predictions, not observations. Wind, waves, runoff, storm surge and other factors can affect actual conditions. Weather is sourced from the National Weather Service. Use your own judgment and paddle at your own risk.
Current from NOAA station HUR0618_8 (Port of Albany), nine miles downriver — the nearest one on the river. Flood and ebb headings are the river’s own axis here, not the station’s: the river runs more nearly north at Troy than it does at Albany. Tide from NOAA station TEC1603, which NOAA calls Troy, about two miles downriver. Both are predictions, baked into this page and good through 31 Dec 2028; values between NOAA’s published points are interpolated. Weather and alerts come live from the National Weather Service grid covering Troy. Water temperature comes from USGS Albany, 8 miles downriver. Sun and moon are computed rather than fetched, and agree with the US Naval Observatory to within a couple of minutes.
